We got to go up to Northern California to Nevada City to visit our good friends Jen and Kyle Lind. They have girls and Joel and Katelyn are only 2 weeks apart! I picked up April in San Jose and road tripped it with a nursing 4month old and a potty training toddler....good times! ha! The drive was long, but once we got there it was poolside hangouts and goo gooing over babies, with "Monkey La La's" (a Honduran adult beverage) every night! So fun and worth the long haul. I have some pretty amazing friends! Miss them all already! We also hit up the train museum in Sacramento on the way home...Wes was in heaven!

San Fran

Two weekends ago we were in Halfmoon Bay and San Fransisco. We have friends (Dave and Ellie Karp) that have moved from Texas to California and some other friends (the Omondi's) that are missionaries in Kenya and were here visiting.

It was great just hanging out, catching up and exploring the city. We haven't all hung out together in 3 years! We also got to hear how the Lord is using the Omondi family to teach pastors and bring people to Christ in Kenyna.

Of course Wes loved the trolley and a few trips to get ice cream in Ghirardelli square.....don't we all love this! Wesley and Angela became great buddies- guess we will have to make a trip to Africa for a visit. Maybe someday.

I am 34 weeks now...only 6 more to go until our due date! I am getting bigger by the second, but looking forward to meeting this little man! I am glad we are busy for the next couple of weeks, it will help the time pass quickly because I am definitely in the uncomfortable stage.

Off to Tahoe next week for some snow and family time. Can't wait!

Blow The Snause

Wes has been sick this week, poor kid. He has been caughing, sneezing, and dripping snot rockets the past few days. Well, since his nose became a faucet, we have been wiping and cleaning his nose constantly.

However, at night, we can't sit there and clean his nose or we would never get any sleep. So we showed him how to wipe his nose when it ran. Well, this is the result. We cracked up in the morning when half a box of tissue ended up all over the place. But I guess that's better than boogs all over, kinda!

Big Boy Bed

OK,

so those of you who know, Wes is a HUGE fan of anything that moves. Planes, trains, and automobiles so to speak. Well, we could not resist when we found this on craigslist. It was perfect (we hoped.)

So we went to pick it up and brought Wes with us. When we arrived at the house to pick up the bed, he hopped out of the truck, and there sitting in the driveway was this new car bed. Needless to say, Wes saw it and ran full speed towards his new "vroom vroom!" So from that moment on, it's been dubbed the "Vroom vroom, nigh night!"

Ok, so we were still nervous about the transition from house arrest (the crib) to big boy bed (freedom to roam.) We were ready for the challenge. So the first day we had the bed, we just let him play on it. The next day at nap time, we moved the bed into the room next to the crib and gave him the choice of crib or bed. He chose the bed of course and we explained that if he did not stay in bed that he would end up in the crib. Well, it worked! First nap and he stayed in the bed the entire time, even waited for us to come and get him when he woke.

So that's it, I know, sounds too easy, but that's how it went down. And now he sleeps in his new vroom vroom nigh night all night long. We just hope it stays that way, but we'll take it!

6 Months

A sweet picture of our first born at the Christmas tree farm. He was more into the bounce house and the lights than picking out a tree...not surprising!

PS we started potty training this week. He seems open to it (willing to sit on the potty, tells me when he is wet/poopy, and has gone pee on the potty several times) but I almost gave up this afternoon. Its day 3 and he seems really upset (cries) when he has an accident but I am having a hard time getting him to relax enough to go pee all at once. He pees a little then gets up and says all done and wants his M&M, but I know there is so much more in there and he ends up peeing his pants. Any suggestions or helpful tips from those who have been there before because I am exhausted and not sure if I should continue. Anyone potty trained a boy around 2 years old? Also, I am not suppose to leave the house until he can hold it or go on the potty consistently???

Disneyland

We got to take Wes to Disneyland for Thanksgiving! It was actually a huge group of mostly Dave's family plus my parents. So there were about 25 of us! A little crazy trying to keep us all moving in the same direction but we tried to stick together at least for the first day. The second day we split up and were able to move a little faster being in smaller groups.

Of course the bigger kids wanted to do the fast rides and Wesley and his entourage stuck to Fantasy land and the like. Highlights were:

1. The Carousel. He kept saying, "More neigh, more neigh"- so cute! Good thing there was basically no line so we did it over and over again!

2. The Pixar parade. It had all his favorite characters from the movies- Lighting McQueen, Sully, Nemo, etc! It was so sweet to see his face light up when he saw them!

3. Small World ride. It was decorated for Christmas and playing Christmas music- I got teary eyed watching his young mind take in all the wonders. I kept looking at Dave saying, "Can you believe this is our kid and we are at Disneyland with him!" Sometimes it just hits you afresh what a blessing it is to have a child and experience the world again with them- Thank you Jesus!

4. Train ride. There is a train that runs along the outskirts of the whole park and makes various stops. Wesley is so into cars and trains it was so fun taking him on a real one with a steam engine and all!

PS we are all wearing dorky blue hats because Dave's dad bought them for us and insisted we wear them so we could spot each other.....humiliating- yet effective....so we caved...

PPS- If you didn't already know we are having a BOY!!! Yes Wes will get a brother and I will be living in a house of testosterone....what is a girl to do!?! I guess get use to trucks, trains, and boy humor and try to stay as girly as possible. We are stoked and can't wait to meet our new little man!

Lighting McQueen Birthday party! It was a blast...pizza, presents, cupcakes and pin the wheel on Lighting made Wesley feel like the King of the day! He really knew that everyone was there for him. So special. We gave him a train set that he played with for 2 hours straight! We loved every minute celebrating our first born.

Pumpkin Time

We did our family pumpkin patching this week. Wes was more interested in the bounce house and slide than in picking out pumpkins- what a surprise. Wesley tired Dave out- he was on his own since I am not able to participate in the jumping and crashing session....oh darn. I was looking at last years pictures and we were bundled in pants and sweaters. This year it was in the 90's!

You get an official belly picture- 16 weeks! We got a little 4th pumpkin to represent our little pumpkin on the way.

So fun- I love the holidays and am looking forward to all the celebrations ahead...our 5th anniversary, Wesley's 2nd birthday, trick or treating, Disneyland trip for Thanksgiving, and all the Christmas festivities.

Big Brother in Training

Yes its true Wesley is a big brother in training because we are having another baby!!! So now you know the reason for our silence in the blog world and on facebook- first trimester has over taken me. I am now 11 weeks and beginning to feel better....which consists of mornings= good, afternoons and nights= queezey +/- the big V. But so far our little peanut it healthy and growing....we also got to have an early ultrasound and saw our precious little one at only 9 weeks! It truly reminds me of the miracle and blessing of children. God is so good to give us another one. We have so enjoyed Wes and can not wait to meet his little brother or sister....not sure he is quite as thrilled but ready or not here he/she comes (in April).

I made Wesley this shirt and had him wear it to tell Dave the good news. Took him a while to notice, but when he did he was super stoked!

Dave's dream come true

Well if you know me you know I don't like golf. I worked at a country club in college and hated everything about golfers and their game. I thought the game was boring, lazy (golf carts) and over priced which made it exclusive. And the golfers I knew where middle aged to old, heavy drinkers and had and attitude of thinking they were better than everyone else. This was my idea of "Golf".

5 years later I meet the man of my dreams- Dave who among all his amazing godly qualities happens to be an ex-pro golfer....our dilemma. He was bummed I had such a skewed idea of his favorite game and was determined slowly to change my image of the game.

He is always talking about me just trying it and that maybe, just maybe, I would like it. He also reminds me often that Wesley will, of course, be an avid golfer and if I want to be included I better start now.

Dreams do come true. Last night we went to Chalk Mountain Golf Course as a family and Dave played 9 holes (actually only got through 7) and Wes and I ran after balls and up and down hills following Dave. We showed Wes how to put the ball in the hole and how hard his daddy can hit the ball. He loved it! AND I hit a few balls myself!!! I had a bad taste in my mouth when I said "It was actually fun", but it was true....when I strip away all my preconceived ideas of what the game of golf is all about and just hit the ball and take in the beauty of the green grass and rolling hills, I have to say I could really get to like this...don't tell anyone I said that.

PS according to Dave I actually hit the ball like a natural....who knew!?!

Lake San Antonio 2010

Annual Barnett lake trip was amazing...missing a few characters like Kelley (in Missouri), Kevin (South Korea), Tanya (Florida) and Garrett (Church camp)...but it still was a blast! Karie even flew out from Colorado to come! I think Piper was in heaven swimming after sticks in the water. We had a few visitors and we got in lots of skiing, wakeboarding, tubing and even tried a sport new to us- wake SURFING.

We all got up on the surfboard and really started to get the hang of it. Hopefully I can post a video soon. Wes loved riding on Papa's boat and even got to drive a little. I didn't get pics on my camera but Wes and I went on the tube together- I can't believe how relaxed he was...he even said "Again" ever time we hit a bump!

It was pretty hot so by the time the week was ending we were all sore, tired, dirty, over sunned and ready to come home. I was so thankful because Wesley actually slept in the tent at night without waking up too early (he slept in the RV for his naps- Thanks Nana and Papa.) but he too was ready to sleep in his own bed.

Can't wait for next year!

Aquarium

Last week we got to spend a couple of days in Monterey Bay. It was hard to pull out our jackets when we left Atascadero and it was 80 degrees- but when we got to Monterey it was 60, overcast and windy- yuck! Didn't stop us from going down to check out fisherman's wharf (where Wes got to hold a real fish right out of the bay!), had the best clam-chowder-ever at a local's only place called Sandbar Cafe, and listen to some street performers on Canary Row. We ended the night in the hotel hot tub- a highlight for the the entire Thomas family.

The next day we visited the Aquarium and got to experience the deep sea with our son...so precious to watch him take in a whole new world. His favorites were the otter tank, the (creepy) eels, the sardine that swim in a circle above your head, the big wave that crashes over you (see pic below), the touch pools and of course the indoor playground!

It was a blast and I totally recommend going at this age (18 months) and you can definitely squeeze a lot before afternoon nap.

Newest Love

Not sure how many of you know this but I have fallen in love....with sewing! I have been sewing for a little over a year and have made tons of stuff like: burp cloths, baby towels, skirts, PJ pants, dresses and my latest project pillow cases...seems simple but these pillow cases have a ZIPPER! This a very scary word for a begining seamstress because zippers are a huge challenge- but thanks to my friend Kate I learned an eazy technique and how cute are these pillows? They have a different pattern on each side so I can flip them for a new look whenever I choose. The free tutorial on these pillows and tons of other cute sewing projects is Come and See the Seitz. So I ordered some new fabric and it came today, not exactly sure what I will be making but I'll keep you posted!

Gymnastics Tuesdays

I found this great Gymnastics place in A-town that has a really fun program for kids from 1-5 years old. We have been going for about a month now and Wes is a wild man in there. He has so much fun that MY cheeks hurt from smiling so much. It is so great to go to a place that is made just for kids and is such a great exersice (for us all!) Just though you might smile too seeing this boy in action.

Easter Fun

Easter number 2 for Wesley, so much fun this year! Most of my family was here- except for Kelley and Kevin who are working hard in the midwest. We celebrated in traditional fashion... Easter basket, egg hunt and worshiping our risen Savior Jesus at church. I was kinda of surprised at how much Wes understood about looking for eggs and putting them in his basket....probably helped that I showed him the candy goodness inside. Karie May was out from Colorado and got to chase Wes around and play plenty of cars. I think we pooped her out enough to send her back to get some rest doing 12hr. shifts at the hospital.

My parents came up on a whim this weekend...we were stoked. Got to go to breakfast and to the Atascadero Lake park. Wes had a blast and loves to say "Papa". Also he is getting so good at climbing the stairs and going down the slide all by himself! 16 months is so fun!

Trip to Tahoe

Last week we got to visit our family in Tahoe. Wes had a fun with his cousins and with all their "new" toys. He didn't love the snow as much as Denver...mostly because it was deep and he had a hard time walking in it. We were very active...sledding, cross country skiing and down hill skiing then a few days to chill and recover! The Johnson's got a new puppy- Willow the Alaskan Malamute she was fun and exhausting too. Oh, did I forget to mention Wes and I caught a ride on one of ACI's private jets!?! Heck yes! There was an empty plane from Paso to Reno the day before we were planning on leaving..... so we hopped on board and spent 45 mins in travel instead of 8 hrs.!! A definite highlight! A little taste of life styles of the rich and famous....pretty sweet.

Arts and Crafts

While visiting friends in San Diego (Did I mention we went to a Charger Game, yeah!) they showed us something that they purchased at a cute woodworking and crafts store downtown. We went and looked but we didn't have enough time for the store to finish before we left town, so we decided to make our own. It's a growth chart or measuring stick we made for Wesley. Now as he grows over the years, we can track it. I remember doing the same thing when I was a kid at my grandparents house. They had one wall dedicated to tracking the height of us kids, and each time we would visit we would remeasure and gloat about how tall we were getting. It was great fun , and now we can share this with Wesley. It was easy to make, just took a 1x6 piece of pine, sanded and painted it white, then applied stickers. The measuring tape with sticky back can be purchased at any hardware store, it's designed to go on machinery, but it works great for this.

Denver

Wes and I had an adventure traveling to Denver all by ourselves! It was a little stressful with a baby on the airlines but we made it in one piece and it was totally worth it! We went to visit Karie and got to go hiking/sledding, skiing, ice skating, and playing at the park. The only bummer was Wes got the 36 hr. flu which was very messy to say the least....but when he was healthy he LOVED the snow! Can't wait to take him to Tahoe next month!

Here's some pics of Wes' first birthday party...it was a little chilly but awesome to have so many friends, neighbors and family around. He loved the Baby Einstein character cake (my friend Rrin and I made it)....so much so he wouldn't eat it! He too one lick, made a funny face and stuck to the peas...that's my healthy boy! ha ha. Also he really showed his personality- serious, taking in the whole situation then when he's comfortable having a blast! It was so special for us to celebrate our growing little man!

Fall fun

Dave was home this week and we had a ton of fun. We bought new furniture, went to the pumpkin patch, hosted Dave's family, went horseback riding and ran a half marathon!! Like I said fun and busy week! This was our first 1/2 marathon and it went great- I'm sure we will do another someday. And to top it all off Wes took his FIRST STEPS this weekend!!! He is officially "walking" at 11 1/2 months. He is getting good a his new skill and tries it often...makes it a few steps then falls, but it will be only a matter of time until he's running! Good thing I've been training! ha.

A few weeks ago I hosted my old roommate and sweet friend, Jennifer Lind's, baby shower. April, Charity, Katie and I all planned it and it was so fun I was shocked how the time flew when the last few left at 6pm...I didn't want it to end. The theme was vintage birdy- the decorations by Katie were fabulous and the food yummy. Here are a few pics from the beautiful day. Jen I am so excitd to meet Kiera May- she is so lucky to have you as parents! Also I have been learning how to sew this year so I made Jen's presents- a Hooter Hider with a burpcloth sewn in.... And a hooded bath towel (sorry the picture is sideways). They both came out really cute and I can't wait to see a picture of Kiera after a bath!

Summer at a glance

We had a great summer. My class was time consuming but interesting, glad its over. We got to share so many new experiences with Wes for his first summer! From boating at San Antonio, to swim lessons with mom, 4th of July parade, home grown yellow squash, backyard nakey pool time and Tahoe hiking it was a blast. Hello Blogging world. Just so you don't think I fell off a cliff an am gone forever, I wanted to let you all know I am in school (online) for the next 6 weeks; therefore you will not be getting cute pictures and updates of my little man. Maybe I'll post a few things about what I am learning (Sociology)- I get a little fired up about all liberal talk and have to post another option- conservative ideas. Who's at the wheel?

Ok, So I don't know if you are like me and don't have much patience for THOSE drivers who may not be as skilled as yourselves, but here is a little thought I have that sometimes helps me out. Come on, you know who you are Mr. or Mrs. I drive slow in the left lane because I don't like the merging traffic. Mr. or Mrs. I drive slow until the passing lane then I speed up so no one can pass me. Mr. or Mrs. I like to drive in your blind spot on the freeway for one million miles! Sorry for the rant. Anyway, as you can tell, these people were driving me crazy, I was getting road rage. Then, some time ago, I started imagining that Jesus, yes Jesus, was behind the wheel of every car. Stay with me here. So, when that driver is going slow in the left lane and holding up FIFTY cars and I'm edging up on their back bumper! oh sorry, I digress, I just remind myself that it's Jesus behind the wheel of that car and I ask myself, would I tailgate Jesus? Ouch, then I back off and try to be nice. Now, I don't always remember to drive like this, but I find that it does lessen my stress level a bit, so I thought it was some advice for all of my fellow drivers out there who actually pay attention to the FACT THAT YOU ARE DRIVING AND THERE ARE OTHERS AROUND YOU, oops, I digressed again. Anyway, yeah, Jesus is driving that car... Square

Wes is CRAWLING!!! (1 day before he turned 7 months) He is slowly on the move and so far its been fun. I know the faster he gets the harder it will be, but we are enjoying for now. He just seems happier too because he can get to where he wants to go!

Life in Him

John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness apprehended it not.

So here I sit, in a hotel room in New York, contemplating the past few years of my life. Sounds really deep, this I know. When I first became a believer, life was hard, but life was easy. I had about $1500 to my name, a commission based job with no gaurantee of income, I was in the middle of a divorce, and I had Jesus. That last statement made everything else seem so insignificant.

Only a month or so before, I was drinking and smoking so much, life was a blur. The pain that I felt was real, mostly because I did not understand that I was the creation of that very pain. Avoiding responsibility for my laziness, my actions, but most of all, my fears led to the destruction of the so called life I knew. Just keep floating by, floating by, things are all right, if everyone thinks I'm fine, then so do I. What a meaningless quest it is to seek your approval from others when for the most part they don't really care about much more than themselfs.

All that changed, I had Jesus. So there I was, and my life was free, my life was not about me. I had the light of Jesus, and it was shinning so brightly that the darkness that what once was my life no longer seemed important. I was not perfect, but I was perfected. My identity was revealed, exposed for who I really was, and my joy was complete for who I wanted to be in Him, a servant.

That's the good news.

My youngest sister Kelley graduated from Fresno State last weekend and we were there...now that she's moving that may have been the last time I go to Fresno on purpose. This week she and Karie are in Italy to celebrate the occasion- must be nice! Actually the weather was perfect and the best part was hanging with the family. Wesley got to finally meet his great grandma Rose. She sang German lullabies and he tried to pull her teeth out- they were a cute pair!

Yesterday Wes had his first fever- I wasn't too worried until it reached 101.8! Called the Doc and they said not to worry until 103. Since he got his shots the day before I figured a little fever was normal but it really knocked him out. He literally would not let me put him down. So we sleeped together, ate together and rocked together and finally Daddy came home so Mom could get a break.

Alternating Tylenol and Motrin seem to help a little. Other than the fact I didn't get anything done it was a very peaceful day....me and my little boy snuggled all day long- I love my job.

So Dave has been driving around my old college truck (good ol "Slick" the Ford Ranger) and he thought it was a bit girly of a truck so has been searching for a replacement. Not an any big hurry or not even sure what he wanted but on the look out.

On our way out of Kmart yesterday we picked up a few Photo Traders and parused. This 2000 Green/Tan Subaru Outback caught our eye and since it was in Santa Margarita we decided to take a look. It is in great condition and was way cheaper than others we have seen. We couldn't resist. It will get us to Tahoe in the snow and have much better gas milage than any of the cars we have now. So bye bye Slick- hello Green Manly Machine.

At least my truck will stay in the family- my 16 year old cousin gets to drive it- oh yeah and she a girl...

Room addition

My friend and neighbor Emily painted these cute pictures to go in Wes' room. It had an ABC theme but needed some art work to complete the look. I didn't find anything I liked that was in my price range so I told her my idea and voila! It looks even better when you see it in person in his room, but isn't it great!?

Also a few cute baby pics because who could resist. (hope you don't hurt your neck looking at this picture because spent 30 mins trying to fix it and it didn't work- oh well!)

So many new things

So Wes is changing everyday but I feel like the last 2 weeks he is leaving the baby stage in the dust and running...well scooting to toddlerhood.

He can sit up all alone, roll both ways, get on his hands and knees and rock back and forth, and just today I felt a sharp numb on his lower gums, and guess what I found- (suspenseful huh) a little white tooth trying to break out!

It's amazing to watch him grow but I'm sure going to miss that gummy little smile.

Today Atascadero felt like Costa Rica...minus the beach. So we had to have some nake time. As you can see Wes is practicing sitting up! He can only do it for a few seconds if his hands are on the ground in front of him but I am still a proud mama. He is still smiling even though he has his first cold! No snot coming out here because I am pretty anal about wiping- he hates it. Hopefully he feels better for our trip to Colorado coming up this weekend. Can't wait to see you Anutie Karie May!

Last weekend we celebrated my sister Kelley's 23rd birthday by going wine tasting in the north county. We rode in style in a stretch limo and hit 3 wonderful wineries, Castro Cellers, JanKris, and Tobin James. Yes we were babyless and it was a little weird but a ton of fun too. Wes had fun with Chrisan Pilnick and we enjoyed wine, cheese and sausage- yum!

Two nights ago we fed Wes his first real meal- rice cereal! He gave us the most confused faces at first but he actually really liked it. This was a harder transition for me than for Wes. My little boy is growing up and I don't like it! The doctor gave us the ok and told us it may help him sleep at night. Well he still woke up when he noramlly would but he went back to sleep soon after and we only fed him once the last 2 nights! Yeah for sleep for mama and baby.

Weekend in Santa

Dave was gone so last weekend we headed down to Nana and Papa's in Santa Paula. It was a blast- except I was a little crazy about making everyone be quiet....not use to a baby napping and how precious that sleep is- especially for a antisleep baby. Other than that I actually got to go see a movie with my mom- so fun, the first in 4 months. Speaking of- Wesley turned 4 months last Sunday on the 1st!

A little update- sleep has been going much better. Actually last 2 nights he has gone to bed at 7pm and did not wake up to eat until about 2 am! This is so much sleep for everyone! He as also not been getting up until 6:30 or even 7:30am sometimes! Hope this is the new trend. Also we still have greenish yellow poop but the doctor is not worried and I get to eat dairy again! YEA!!! Life is good right now- Dave was home for 4 days, now he is off again but we are headed to Nana and Papa's in Santa Paula for the weekend. Should be fun!

"Still others, like the seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful." Mark 4:18

This verse really spoke to me today. I feel like this is me and a lot of the church today. We are so consumed with worries, pursuit of the American dream and our obsession with possesions that we are unfruitful for the gospel.

I have been struggling with prayer- believeing that God not only hears me but that I have the ability to plea with him to change his mind or answer my prayer. I know in my head that he does hear and so many times has answered- but why now do I wrestle with unbelief? I think it has to do with the effectiveness of the Word...meaning the worries, wealth and idols in my life.

I pray that I would be transformed into verse 20..."Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop- thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times what was sown."

Lord, I want to not be a hearer of the word but a doer and believer- make me affective for the gospel.

Does this speak to anyone elses heart?

Snow in A-town

Yes believe it- at 8:00 this morning the rain turned to snow in my backyard. I was so excited I started calling all my nieghbors and Dave (who is in sunny Florida). It only lasted for about an hour but it was magical and we definately went out to enjoy it. Me and Piper more than Wes- his little digits got sorta red and very cold so he got to take a hot bath when we can back inside...but it was worth it and I have pictures to prove it.

You start to understand the sacrifice of being a mom when the whole world halts to your child's nap schedule. We are not at church today because it was crucial to maintian the his nap (for this week at least). We have been working with Wes on self soothing and getting himself to sleep. It has been painful at best. We were the typical household with me crying on the couch wanting to go rescue my baby and Dave being the voice of reason convincing me that this is for his good and ours. So hard to see when your baby has been crying for hours. Yes Wes was determined not to give up- but we stayed strong and after only 3 days we can lay him down in his crib fully awake and he will be asleep in 10-15 mins. A miracle seeing as last week we had to run upstairs every 5 mins to replace the binki and rock him back to sleep; always living in fear of the red lights on the monitor. Victory in Jesus- he is due the credit. I spent every cry session in hopeless prayer for our son and for our strength to hold out and let him figure it out. He wasn't a good sleeper but since the sleep boot camp he has only woken up 2 times a night and taking longer naps! 3 Months

Yesterday Wes turned 3 months old. During the day we can't believe where the time has gone, during the night we wish he was a little older...ha ha. He is doing so many fun things right now like cooing at his toys and smiling at anyone who sticks their tounge out at him. He loves his Baby Einstein videos...actually tv in general is pretty cool right now. Also he is starting to figure out how to make his bouncey chair light up but hitting the blu bird. So fun to watch! Still not sleeping well so that is the next hurdle. Seems to be feeling better we will hear from the doctor soon. We will post about that soon.

Weekend with Nana

Last weekend we had fun because Nana Pam came in to town. It was the best- she held me, played with me and brought me some really stylin clothes. I don't know what I am going to do without her...Mommy feels the same way! I guess we will have to visit more often so I don't miss her too much....

So I have recently discovered that Wesley may be allergic to dairy. If you don't get it because babies drink milk...he is allergic to the milk products that I eat and end up in my breast milk. He was having terrible gas- I mean bad. He would wake himself up from tummy pain and grunt and cry just trying to get it out. At first I chalked it up to normal infant gas but now with all the trouble sleeping I thought I would mention it at mom's group. I find out that 2 other moms and babies are having similar issues. I didn't even realize the other symptoms he was having like green mucus poop- how was I suppose to know that wan't normal? Also if you have lactose intolerance in the family they are more likely to be allergic (Dave and dairy don't mix- hello get a clue right!) So no more dairy for this cheeseaholic- which has been totally hard. Don't you always crave something more when you can't have it? Anyway it will be worth it if it helps him sleep and not be in so much pain. We did have a break through today- 1 yellow poop!! We may be on to something. I have never been so obessed with poop before but I guess it comes with the territory of being a mom.

Week 3

Wesley is 3 weeks old today we are starting to get the hang of it. Luckily Dave is still in town and we had my Mom (Nana) to help for a few days. We had some fun happenings....His umbilical cord fell off (still wondering if he's an innie or an outie), we went to our first mommy and me class learning about new baby stuff and meeting other newbies, and we tried the Pacifier. This was a huge discovery because it made evening fussies a little more bearable. Here are a few pics from this week- enjoy our little boy like we have!

Well, here he is, Wesley Richard Woodruff Thomas. Our new son was born on Nov. 1, 2008, at 2:58 in the morning. Kristal had a 27 hour labor, and made it through, all be it exhausted. She started her labor early Halloween morning, about 1am. We made it to the hospital about 1pm that day, and things SLOWLY progressed from there. For those of you who have kids, you know what an amazing thing it is to watch the birth of a child. I (Dave) will never forget that day, what my wife endured for our new son, what the first cry was like, the first time I was able to hold his tiny little hand, the fear I felt at first knowing the responsibility, the peace that comes and the love that washes away that fear. It is an experience like no other. There are a couple of pictures below, one with Nana (Kristal's Mom), and a couple more of the boy. We thank you for the prayers, the endless help offered, the food that keeps coming, and most of all we thank God for all the amazing people in our lives that have helped us enjoy this time even more!

Today is our son's due date- he is fully cooked now at 40 weeks...unfortunately he has not arrived yet. There have been suddle signs of it coming closer, but no labor- although we are anxiously wating. We have been keeping our selves busy with house cleaning, golf (for Dave) and going for walks with Piper. To entertain you while we wait here is a pic of me today and a few of the baby room (not totally completed but gives you an idea). We'll keep you posted of any news....

Dog Emergency

I thought we might be able to get away with just one major surgery per pet per year (Mosey rubber band surgery, Piper broken leg, now this)...but Piper proved us wrong....Monday morning she started throwing up, acting lethargic and very clinging so I took her in. They didn't find anything on the xrays so I got to take her home. That night she got worse and worse, she couldn't get comfortable and was extremely nauseous, dry heaving every half hour. Needless to say Dave wasn't home and I didn't sleep at all.

I took her in first thing in the morning and after a few more test they decided she was not getting better and she need to go to surgery to make sure nothing was stuck in her intestines.....Well sure enough there was something stuck, a couple sharp pieces of water bottle and string from a rope toy!!! (Dang Dollar Tree toys!)

Thankfully the doctors at Animal Care Clinic acted quickly because if we did not remove those objects she would have died. I couldn't handle another pet tragedy in this pregnancy. All is well now Pipe dog is recovering and my stress level is back down. Dave made it home for the surgery but had to leave the next day- he was concerned that with all my worry I might go into labor so he put me on "husband bed rest" - relax and do as little as possible until he comes home Saturday so this baby would stay put....so far so good.

I will post pics this weekend of the surgery and of the million dollar mutt.

3 Years

3 Years ago today Dave and I tied the knot! It has been an amazing 3 years- we have seen God's blessings and challenges. Our friendship and love has never been stronger and we have such a sweet adventure coming in the next week or so. This little boy is going to have one incredible daddy- I know because he is a wonderful husband- I love you Babe!

Daniel Seymour Benefit

Many of you know our neighbor Daniel has cancer and we were helping put on a benefit for him. The golf tournament and lunch was at Avila Beach Golf Resort this last weekend and it was totally successful. God blessed the day with amazing weather and he moved in peoples hearts to give generously- more than we could have hoped or imagined. Here are a few pics from the day....

End of a Chapter

So-Wednesday was my official last day of work at Animal Care Clinic. I know my jobs are just changing but I truly had mixed feelings about leaving the people and career I have been at for 5 1/2 years. My body is tired and can't do 10 hr shifts anymore, but my mind was not convinced I wouldn't be board in a week. I do have tons to do to prepare for the arrival of our little boy, I'm sure boredom will not be an often occurrence and I am trying to enjoy the peace before our world is rocked. I will post about the last baby shower I had in Santa Paula soon....

My second shower was in beautiful Shell beach at the all too famous "Shell Shack" and was put together by some of my best friends- April, Katie, Lori and Jen. They truly know how to throw a par-tay! The jungle theme was perfect- I know I will probably have a pretty wild man. Here are some pics and a few of my favorite moments.

We had to get the pregos to represent! Four out of 20 something people is a good turn out- that means 1/5th of the shower was pregnant! ha ha. We all feel so blessed to be carrying little ones- can't wait until they all get to play together. (also that is our 32 week picture-8 months)

Doctors' visit

We when to the doctors this week and all good news- baby's growing a normal rate and he is head down! (Sorry if thats too much info) Also this is my last full week of work- I cut down to 3 days a week in Sept and that is my last month! Can't believe he is only 9 weeks away. On another note- please pray for my neighbor Daniel- he is in his early 30's and has a very young family and has just been diagnosed with cancer. They don't have a lot of answers yet but it has already spread- please pray as they are trying to deal with this heavy news.
